Why do you charge for records that are free from the National Archives?
We don’t charge for the records. We charge for our time and our expertise in locating them. Also, we like food.
What is the difference between ordering records from you and ordering direct from NARA?
We offer faster turnaround times on most records, and personal assistance to help you identify the records you need. Plus, we have a better sense of humor than the government.
Why are you so cheap? I am suspicious.
We are genealogists too! We wanted to offer an affordable record retrieval service to our fellow researchers that would allow everyone to access military collections from the National Archives without having to sell a vital organ to get them.
How long will my record take to arrive?
We don’t have guaranteed delivery times, because each record is different. Record delivery can also be affected by incorrect veteran information, peak volume times, misfiled records, hurricanes, zombie squirrel outbreaks and ongoing preservation projects in the Archives which temporarily remove some records from circulation. Sometimes, we even take a day off.
What if my record can’t be found?
In most cases, we offer the choice of an alternate veteran record or a full refund for records that cannot be located. In some cases, a portion of the record cost is non-refundable as noted on the product page.
Can I get a paper copy?
We deliver records in digital format only as part of our commitment to keep prices low. This is not your ‘old school’ genealogical records company.
Is there someone I can call to talk about my order?
No. We are wonderful yet introverted people; we like email and we’ll answer as fast as humanly possible!
